About Danba
Danba lies in the eastern border of Ganzi Tibet Autonomous Region, within western Sichuan.
The county varies tremendously in altitude, from 5,820 meters of the highest peak, to 1,700 meters of the lowest river valley. The Big Jinchuan and Small Jinchuan Rivers meet here, marking the start of the Dadu River.
Danba's landscape is vertically changing, from snow mountains, glaciers, to grasslands and valleys.
The main population here are Tibetans.

"Kingdom of One Thousand Castles"
With groups of ancient castles scattered near the valley and villages, Danba is noted as "kingdom of one thousand castles".

The towers and citadels were built hundreds of years ago for passing messages between villages. Also for defense, the average height of these stone military works exceeds 30 meters, and the tallest comes up to 60 meters.

Tibetan Style Buildings
Danba is a good place to observe Tibetan style buildings. Jiarong village is especially worth a visit. The typical village building has three floors with roofs painted black, white and yellow.


Drinking Yak Butter Tea in Danba
The local drink is yak butter tea. Tibetans are hospital to travelers, and a visit to one family always gives you a good memory. They will host you with the best butter tea, and even invite you to dinner, free of charge of course.

Beauties in the Valley
Many girls in Danba are beautiful in their plain manner, which gives the region a sweet name -- Beauty Valley. Beautiful local women, when in their rich-color dresses, are ideal for the camera.
